Suboxone Treatment Program

Suboxone is used to treat addiction to opiates such as codiene, oxycodone, hydromorphone, meperidine, morphine and heroin.

The medication suppresses withdrawal symptoms and cravings for opioids and does not cause euphoria in the opioid-dependent patients. This medication can allow one to regain a normal state of mind – free of withdrawal, cravings and the drug-induced highs and lows of addiction.

Suboxone affects the same regions of the brain as heroin and other opiates. It is a combination of two different drugs:

  • Buprenorphine – helps to reduce physical cravings while going through detox.
  • Naloxone – a protective agent that helps prevent people from abusing the drug by causing immediate withdrawal symptoms if dissolved.

This treatment must be prescribed by a doctor it is not a cure for addiction issues. It is considered effective during rehabilitation and as part of a comprehensive treatment program.

What are some benefits of this treatment?

The program helps people with addictions to painkillers, heroin and other opiates overcome their dependance.

  • Suppress symptoms of opioid withdrawal: When taken under medical supervision, Suboxone allows you to wean off drugs slowly, without the negative effects of a cold-turkey detox.
  • Reduce Cravings for Opioids: Suboxone lessens drug cravings and withdrawal symptoms, allowing you to stop taking opiates and focus on your recovery.
  • Stay healthy while being in treatment: Suboxone makes it possible for you to be productive in your daily life – by working, going to school and/or caring for your family – while treating your drug addiction.
  • Lower potential for abuse: Suboxone has a lower risk of being abused and is less likely to cause an overdose when used in an appropriate way.
